Re: Greetings!
Looks like you found a nice one to restore. I would only be offended if you dropped a bow tie in it! I have an 86 that was vandalized (Blue) that will eventually get a 289 hipo. That is still over a year away. The Hobgoblyn is priority one to have finished by September, it has costed an arm and 2 le...

Re: Wheel Options
 Gary, I'm so envious! Those are killer wheels! I have wasted hours online trying to find those or something close! After many hours of frustration, I finally found a solution! I found a set of BMW 528 wheels 16x7 with a 22mm offset; I found a guy that is going to re-drill my hubs and Conto...

Re: The rebuilding of Shea the XR4
You misunderstood me on the dishwasher line, its for the water/coolant return to the block. I got the Stinger oil return line, the stock will not work with my header. The header moves the turbo forward about 4-5 inches and changes the mounting position of the flange from vertical to horizontal. With...

Re: The rebuilding of Shea the XR4
Ryan, I got my SS flex line on eBay for about 19 bucks. Just look for Ford T3 oil inlet line. I made the mistake of getting one for a Cosworth, the fittings are an unusual English size. The adapter for one side was $16.00, now I have 36 bucks in some crap I can't use. I didn't go after the other one...

Re: 89 XR4, 3 years in the making. Alot to do still.
Dude, I love your wheels. what are they? They look a lot like the TSW Hockenheim's. I have been trying to find this wheel for the last 5 years. Last year I sandblasted my basketweaves (stock BBS's) and painted them bodycolor and put them on. They are going on the 86 as soon as I find what I am looki...

Re: The rebuilding of Shea the XR4
Seems like we all run into the same stuff at some time or another. The shop manual was the best thing you could do for yourself, I have two. Doing research before spending money or getting into something you haven't done before will always pay off. Getting in a hurry usually means effing something u...

And I thought 12g's was a lot to put into my car! Looks like it's going to be sick! I like to see a man that knows what he's doing! I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're done.

Re: Hobgoblyn from WNC
I have pared down a bit, besides those I have an 86 Turbo Coupe (daily driver) 75 450SLC (rotting away) and an 88 560SEC MB currently needing front discs and calipers and drivers side window motor. I hope to sell the 560 and Tbird before the end of the summer. Tbird has been gone through, getting pa...

Re: 4 to 5 lug conversion parts list, anyone done this recen
As you know the factory spec is 35, and I am told anything up to 42 will work. I am considering a couple of options. If I can find a set of Hockenheim R's I may just stay with the 4 lug. However, if I can't find those I have found a set of BBS that are 16x7 5x108 with a 45 backspace. They will fit t...

Re: Wheel Options
Mike, if Gary is not interested, what would you have to have for them. I have been looking for this wheel, mistakenly thinking this was a BBS design! I like the look! These new designs don't appeal to me that much, I guess my taste got stuck in the 80's. I am not crazy about new cars, too complicate...

4 to 5 lug conversion parts list, anyone done this recently?
Has anyone done a 4 to 5 lug conversion lately? I have a few questions I hope some of you may be able to help with. 1 Is the Scorpio rotor a direct replacement for the front and what needs to be done to fit them on back. 2 Is there a better alternative? I have not sourced any parts yet, so I am open...

Re: Newbie XR resto from Eastern SD
You got a nice one to start with, my 88 looked almost identical, no leather. There is an upside and downside to these things. Upside, lots of parts available. The downside, if you want serious power, drop in a 5.0! Building a 2.3 is not cheap, I have 2g's just in Turbonetic's equipment! When you sta...

Hobgoblyn from WNC
Hello fellow Merkurians, I am a 16 year owner of Merk's. Number 1 is in the garage awaiting a new windshield. It is a 86, white/gray, 5speed, with leather, 99.000 miles. Number 2 became parts when I sold it, and bought it back from the scrapyard after an idiot stripped it. *86 dk blue, auto (it's ge...
