Re: 1989 XR4Ti for sale
I would love to post photos but can't figure out how. When I do I certainly will. To post photos, you need to either have a paid up Merkur Club of America membership to post directly to the forum, or you can upload them to some 3rd party image sharing website (Flickr, Imgur, Google Drive/Photos, wh...

Re: 88 xr4Ti...what to do with it
If you're struggling to find time and motivation to drive it, any engine swap is probably not the best way to go, since that's just gonna require even more time and motivation. I can easily see this LS swap project ending halfway through. I hate to say this, but if the car really doesn't do it for y...

Where is this car located? Posts like this typically don't get much traction without some more details.

Re: Bleeding the Brakes
I never considered this, but it might be relevant. I do have the rear of the car up on jack stands. I will try putting the back of the car down on the ground and doing it that way. As far as replacing the hoses, do you guys mean just the rubber part, or all the hard lines?

Re: Minerva's Merkur, Mica.
I don't know enough to be confident that it's not a big deal, but from what I've read, narrowband AFR measurements aren't too meaningful, since it can't tell you *how* rich or lean it is. Might just be a little rich, which might be ok if it's still within operating specs, I don't know, or it could b...

Bleeding the Brakes
Hi folks, I have been having a lot of difficulty with bleeding the brakes on my XR recently. I previously replaced the rear wheel cylinders, so I planned to bleed the brakes and flush everything out with new fluid, since I suspect the car hasn't had a brake bleed in a very long time. Unfortunately, ...

If you don't yet have a copy of the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, it can be a pretty handy resource, and you can pick one up on eBay for not too much money

3rd gen "Bubble Taurus", anyone? Whenever I see one of those, I think it must have crawled out of the river near Chernobyl. As a diehard Ford fan, even I must admit, it's not the prettiest car.

Re: Parking Brake Stop Plungers (Rear Drum Brakes)
Interesting. It looks like yours are set up in the reverse direction of what seems to be indicated in the service manual. I suppose that would prevent them from coming out though, if the larger end were inside the drum and the smaller end out, as you've shown there. Perhaps I'll go back and try swap...

Uneven brake drum drag, can't seem to adjust parking brake cable any further
I've been trying to get my rear drum brakes dialed in today and have run into an issue with adjusting the parking brake cable. I have the driver's side brake perfectly adjusted so that the drum barely grazes the shoe when the brake isn't applied, but the passenger side has a fairly firm engagement o...

Re: 3D printed double din radio mount for XR4Ti
Matt, I don't know much about them, but a Google search yeilds numerous results for "3D printing services". I think you basically just email them the file and some print settings and pay for it, and then they send you the thing in the mail. That may be a good option for you if there's not ...
