Re: Scorpio engine oil brand

$21.47 for 5 qts. Walmart's Super Tech full synthetic is inexpensive and a rational choice for oil changes even if annual mileage is minimal.

Re: Scorpio engine oil brand

I followed the Owners Handbook for many many years, so 10w30, and any of several national brands, . Then often chose Walmart's synthetic especially when on sale. Not long ago Ford issued a TSB saying 5w30 was okay so I've been using Walmart Super Tech 5w30 in my fleet. I'd never use a 20w50, ever. R...

Re: EGR Removal

Exhaust gas is a slightly lower temperature than combustion temperature so adding it to the intake, when needed (per the ECU), lowers the production of Nitous Oxide (NO2) at the tailpipe. NO2 is an undesirable exhaust emission with respect to human respiration. The EGR is activated only under certai...

Ever wondered about Mike Oyler's (Merkur Depot) home town? I did and this program gives a nice "taste" of it:

Re: Stock trans mount

Hi all, I seem to remember that the Scorpio one was usable if turned around. (?) That was an A4LD transmission which is derived from a C3. Yours an auto? '88 T-bird mounts would be what I would look for auto or manual. Just a thought. Cheers Scorpio auto trans and XR manual trans use the same mount...

Ford Guy wrote: Sat Apr 23, 2022 10:34 pm The most unusual thing about my XR4Ti is that it still has the original rear brake shoes. Anyone else have a similar experience?
That likely points to the self-adjusters not functioning. Or the car never braked firmly in reverse which is how the self-adjusters actuate.

Re: The broken aftermarket CV-axle issue

FWIW a couple my failures occured right after or soon after making a 90* turn and accelerating. I think such a turn in some manner may have a dislocation effect on the bearing cage. Note my post earlier quoting TM's website on the critical importance of axle length dimension in preventing warranties...

Your wallet noticed the difference (~$18 cost?).

That's why I just wipe off oil film with a cloth or shop towel.

Throttle Body/Air Intake Cleaner. But I only use a blue shop paper towel to clean the bore and wipe the temp sensor.
