Re: TRS Write Up on 2.9 Porting

Great info! Looks like one of the older 2.9 heads which you cut up. Have you compared to one of the newer aftermarket heads which improved the weak (thin) areas to reduce cracking? (see Brad's thread, http://forum.merkurclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=33657). Wondering if the port profiles aroun...

Re: TBird Rear Calipers + Brackets

Would just like these gone; need all the space I can get in the garage. $90 for the calipers, $45 for the brackets. The seal repair kit is FoMoCo number E7SL2L-128A. Dorman# = D351837, Raybestos # WK1967. Readily available, as it seems Varga used the same piston and components for various later vers...

Re: EV6 Fuel Injector Upgrade

Doh... was assuming "same years, similar EECIV strategies, same injectors." Come to think of it, been so long, I'm not sure whether my 5.0L injectors are hi or low impedance.

Re: EV6 Fuel Injector Upgrade

Yeah, I wondered about the source of manufacture... I thought eBay instituted a policy not long ago that sellers were required to cite country of manufacture, not just origin of shipping for new products? Sounds like you had no issues with hi vs. low impedance ratings on the ev6's? Or, did I misread...

TBird Rear Calipers + Brackets

Bought these calipers and brackets a couple years, but never had the time to install. Decided to go instead w/ an hydraulic ebrake setup. Both calipers are externally in really good shape, loaded with what looks like new pads, and slider pins and boots are fine. Anodized gold. Passenger side works g...

Re: EV6 Fuel Injector Upgrade

Ah... OK I get it. Thanks Brad. I take it there weren't any clearance issues under the manifold when you "stack" on the adapters, just visually obvious if you're inspecting closely, right? Also, kinda' weird that a set of 8 FoMoCo EV6's on eBay are so cheap, when not so long ago a complete set of th...

Re: EV6 Fuel Injector Upgrade

You could probably use the EV1 to EV6 adapters if you didn't want to cut and solder in new ends to your fuel injector harness. I say "probably" as real estate is a little tight under the fuel rail. Plus, the EV6 connectors are so much easier to remove and replace, it's worth the extra time. Sorry, ...

Re: Runs / Doesn't run

Agree that the TFI module is a likely culprit. But, it's been sitting for 20 years, and I would expect corrosion at any/all of the many grounding wires, as well as junk in the fuel lines. Worst case is dropping the gas tank and checking the pump. First, though, put a fuel gauge on the Shrader valve ...

So, how did you guys go about delving into those units to investigate? The PCM I can kinda' guess, but the ETAC?

Re: A4LD... What's out of adjustment?

I am sorry your valve body approach did not pan out. The good thing is you can always swap your kitted valve body into another case. Which I suspect is what you are planning. Otherwise you think the shift kit is worth the effort? Well, got VERY lucky with a spare Jeff Herson (Blugg) happened to hav...

Here's the link http://forum.merkurclub.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=27563&p=294166&hilit=FI+%2F+Sensors#p294166 Rereading it gave me incentive to learn more about "fusible links". Why they're used instead of "fuses" and why not to replace a fusible link with a fuse. In "short"... The fusible lin...

Re: New OEM Piston Ring Sets 2.3 Lima

Ford parts starting with an "E" are for 1980 decade vehicles, "F" for 1990, so F1 would be 1991. I don't think there were any turbo vehicles offered in 1990, these are likely from a Ranger 2.3L (NA). I remember a guy who would swap in ranger motors for dead XR4 2.3L's when available, without problem...
