Image hosting...tinypic is gone...now what?

I started posting images in my post using tinypic.com

Tinypic.com is now belly up.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

John - You need to confirm coolant temp by another means. You could be running hot.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

When you say the reading is on the "high side of normal" what exactly do you mean?

It's a little amazing than pan fits. I guess he had to mod the oil pickup as well. According to Wikipedia article on Duratec... "While the 2.0 Ford EcoBoost engine and its later 2.3 variant share a cylinder block with the L3-VDT and are derived from the Mazda L architecture, little else is shared be...

Re: New 2.3 EcoBoost would be great in a Scorpio...

This guy put the 2.0L ecoboost into the XR4tI.

Notice he mentions using the Ranger oil pan. That means he had to wait until the Ranger was released this year to make the swap work.

Re: New 2.3 EcoBoost would be great in a Scorpio...

For an extra $850 that ebay vendor can rig it up on a palette as a test stand.

Pretty cool.

With the 3.64 rear diff and weight well below that of the 2016 Mustang...the Scorpio would really haul a$$ with this motor.

New 2.3 EcoBoost would be great in a Scorpio...

My 2003 Sport Trac was on its last legs. So I traded it in on a new Ford Ranger. i'm really liking the Ranger and its 2.3 Ecoboost engine. This engine would be phenomenal in the Scorpio (or XR4ti for that matter). This place sells all the crate motor and all the extra goodies... http://www.fordracin...

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

Fits Fiesta, Escort..AND Scorpio. I know..I know...Hard to believe Ford actually used the same sensor across many models and dash gauges.. BUT THEY DID! https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Temperature-Switch-sensor-fits-for-FORD-ESCORT-FIESTA-SCORPIO-1657685/202335317225?epid=17020214216&hash=item2f1c1fece...

Re: Sudden Intermittent High Idle

..and I can confirm bad capacitors on the Scorpio EATC. I think I found about 3 or 4 that were bad ( I have a tester ) I just systematically changed them all.

There are a few electrolytics in the EECIV. I think about 4 or 5. I have not got around to changing them yet....but not a bad idea.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

Be careful. Double check with another temperature measuring tool if there is any doubt. You don't want to overheat it. Definitely get the fan clutch fixed if it is bad.

The sensor I got from Latvia was dead center of the gauge once the engine warmed up.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

They are all the same. The different part numbers/colors reflect different production runs or different suppliers. Let's take another vehicle from the same era like the the '88 mustang as an example. This listing on Rock Auto indicates a multitude of Ford part numbers that cross to the same sensor. ...

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

May? Maybe... How about something like "Hey - I have two kinds of brand new temp gauge sensors here right in front of me and I measured the resistances at different temps and you know what...they are different". Or "Hey look - I found a data sheet for the different types of gauge sensors and they sa...

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

I'm sorry, you haven't convinced me. I don't believe they are any different.
It would just be fool hardy for them to make various different temp gauges sensors in the same physical package with various responses for different models.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

The one I got from Latvia worked fine. 190F center of gauge. Don't recall any color. It would not make sense if they made them in any variation. Think about it. You only want to see something like a standard 150-240F range on a coolant temperature gauge no matter what engine the car has in it. Thus ...
