Re: WTB - 1988 XR4Ti - Black Preferred

I may end up selling my 85. Black with gray leather interior - driver seat multiple cracks, the rest good. Body and frame nice. It has 4 speed AT (A4LD), but I have parts needed for manual swap, except tranny and clutch. Some mods: Big VAM, IC, 3" exhaust, SVO ECU, upgraded brakes and suspension. L...

The one pictured above is the after T5 swap. The front part of the shafts are different, the back end of the shafts are all the same, even between Scorp/XR IIRC.
So the whole front piece is different? not just the yoke? The shaft too? Needs to change length?

Re: Merkur desktop

There's been a lot of XR4Ti content created for Internet consumption, and LOST, in the last 10-15 years and I'd love to help make sure people still have access to that knowledge, learning and those resources. I've taken to having to copy some content out of the Internet Wayback Machine and then rep...

Re: Manual trans into auto xr

I found that again, and have looked thru it and the one on Merkur Encyclopedia. However I see no pics of what it look like when they're talking about reusing the stock 2 piece drive shaft. Take the front section of the stock 2 piece driveshaft and have a T5 yoke welded on and balanced at a drivesha...

Something I had wanted to do for a long time...I think it's more than enough engine to make the car fun to drive.
I wish there was more documentation.

Yes, it does help.

Need to figure out drive shaft as well, even though every car has somewhat of a different configuration.

Thanks for posting!

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

Thanks Andy, The problem is that I did purchase 2 new Motorcraft sensors, and they're both reading the same. They happen to be green ring ones from Europe, as I found nothing in the U.S. correct for this 2.9L. The U.S. listed sensors all seem to be the smaller, 5.0L or Bronco types. As far as I cou...

Last call on parts. I'm preparing to haul the remaining bits to the junkyard.
