Re: Passenger tail light out

I've tried other bulbs.

I'll have to see if I can find the "high altitude principle use" bulbs next.

I have tomorrow off, so I should be able to get a few small projects done this weekend. As long as "she who must be obeyed" doesn't give me a big honey do list.

Re: XR Vs. Scorpio Front Sub-frame / K-member

I gotta take measurement to figure out what I did(its' been years since I did it, and I didn't take notes or post pics  ) but I'm fairly sure when I put my new shocks struts and springs in the XR, along with all new front bushings from MC2, and new orange poly bushings from OPMD on the rear, t...

Re: Passenger tail light out

I have to look at my taillights again too. I've done all the cleaning, crimping connectors tighter, cleaning grounds, new ground wire straight from the deal with all the bulbs to the chassis, etcc... everything short of running all new wires from the front to the back. My left turn signal flashes fa...

Re: Radio issues with anything newer

Found my Scosche kit and the main harness for power etc... was missing one wire so I just tossed it. I did however fix my radio losing power on me when going over bumps. Apparently the ground wire in the aftermarket radio harness, the one that came with the radio, isn't good enough for bumps etc... ...

Cleaning the VAM

Re: Longer Tie-rod Ends

I did the conversion on my XR more than 5yrs ago, so I have no idea what I did anymore. I can't remember if I just swapped a Scorpio rack, or the inner tie rods, or just used the stock XR bits. I know I have stock style out tie rod ends. I just put new rack boots on and next weekend when I'm working...

Re: Radio issues with anything newer

I haven't taken actual measurements, but the cassette hole is shorter vertically, and wider than single din. Ghost here has made a 3d printed adapter to put a double din in the old clock location IIRC. The Scosche adapter is only if you have the stock car side harness intact. Mine was cut out in a p...

Re: Radio issues with anything newer

I bought a generic freightliner radio wire harness, male and female from Amazon. I plan to install it soon, and then at least I can get rid of the terminal block I've been using for the radio wiring. I was using that because I knew at some point I would be replacing the radio, and didn't wanna keep ...

Re: Radio issues with anything newer

Could be wiring issue. I have a unit that worked in my car years ago, and now it won't. I redid some of my wiring, and thought I had it fixed. Drive to work the next monday and every bump in the road caused power to die, but battery(keep alive) fine as it remembered settings. Turned it on today, and...

Re: A Celebration of a Merkur Legend, Jim Wirt

Good to hear his tools and such will go to other owners. I remember meeting up with him and Steve K in 05 to convoy to Carlisle.

I still have my magnet.

Re: DIS with 8UA

I spent over an hour searching thru both TF and here, a bunch of confusing info and broken links. Drill the block, but only found a diagram for that today after asking. Wiring schematic only appeared after asking. All old links and photos don't work. Also, can this be done with only one coil pack? N...

Re: Remote tfi

It is serpentine. I do have to triple check to make certain it won't clear. That might be next weekends, or the weekend after project. I had to get the car driveable again first, stupid relay sockets. Next most important is rack boots, and then alignment. After that I can fumble f@#K around with oth...

DIS with 8UA

I've been searching and I'm not finding anything definitive here or at TF. I will need to convert my XR over to DIS, as the A/C set up I just acquired requires it. Unless I make new hoses. My A/C compressor will be where the alt is now, and the alt moves to the old A/C compressor location. This has ...

Re: Remote tfi

I haven't done it with the kit, but almost did with out one, and I'd get the kit if I was gonna remote mount my TFI. I filed down some spade connectors to fit, and I wasn't confident in the long term viability of it. I felt like they'd vibrate out and leave me stranded, or at least plugging it back ...
