Re: Harvesting Seat Track Feet for Alternate Seats

Interesting, I've got a pile of original XR seat tracks that I've been itching to just toss, but I feel bad doing so, therefore they just sit in the middle of the floor/walkway. Maybe if I could find some other seats to swap I'd give it a shot.

Re: Turn Signals/Switch

Update on my taillight/turn signal problem. The turn signal stalk went south, and the wiring connector on the passenger side was partially melted. Thank you to Mike at Merkur Depot for supplying me with a bulb holder and pigtail connector, and to Jeff at Merkur Midwest for a Euro turn signal stalk....

Re: Carrier Bearing Identification

To my knowledge, the MT models never had a carrier... Doorman is the only one I can see that makes the "stock" part. Their site says it only fits 86+ AT models. If anyone has a similar setup, I'd appreciate if one could provide measurements so I may check if it is actually Dorman 934-012....

Re: Carrier Bearing Identification

Hello again. Sorry for the sort of vague post the superbowl party left me a little discombobulated. Here is an image of the carrier; https://i.imgur.com/3joeJd5.jpeg This was taken from the rear looking forward. It looks funny because I stuffed some fuel hose in the housing to take up some of the g...

Re: Carrier Bearing Identification

You could post a photo in here of the driveshaft and coupler, it would make it much easier to identify.

Re: Sanity check--XR Brake Bleeding

I had watched a couple youtube videos re brake bleeding using the power method. Somewhere I saw a recommendation to use about 40lb pressure in the air compressor. Now I'm reading that 15lb is about right. That may have been my problem with the "power" approach; too much vacuum. I was neve...

Re: Sanity check--XR Brake Bleeding

I'd check with the vendors here and see what they have available. Decide if it makes sense to get a rebuilt MC or a rebuild kit, or possibly adapters for the larger thunderchicken MC. In the past I have damaged a MC from pumping the pedal during the bleeding procedure. This was because the car (a t...

Re: Sanity check--XR Brake Bleeding

Master cylinder may be bad in that case. I recently got to use one of these power bleeders which uses an air compressor to pull the fluid through the lines. I'm pretty impressed with that as I've never been a fan of bleeding brakes. Some how or other, my dad manages to do it by himself and not have ...

Re: Flex Joint options... <aka Guibo, Giubo>

Wish I had seen this sooner. I have a poly guibo that had been installed and driven less than a hunded miles and maybe even less than a mile (don't recall if the car was on the road at the time). $25 plus shipping. Also Motomobil in Germany has oem type ones in stock but you have the expensive ship...

Re: Flex Joint options...

So has anyone actually used this Febi 05539 part in a XR or Scorpio? Here's the tech sheet which clearly shows that it's spec'd for a Mk3 Granada / Scorpio https://partsfinder.bilsteingroup.com/en_US/article/febi/05539?make=Ford Suitable to replace Reference(s) Ford 7 189 409 | 88GG4684CA | GAF 43 ...

Re: replace oil pan gasket in car?

Inside a building with good lighting and a lift. Nice. It's not fun under a car, outside, in Ohio, in the middle of winter, in the driveway or worse yet out in the street. I try to avoid that as much as possible. :cheers Lift is nice, the lighting is not so great even though there is a lot of light...

Re: replace oil pan gasket in car?

I went after it by removing from the bottom. Remove starter. Disconnect control arms from the k-member and move them out of the way a bit. Take the clips off the brake lines and slide them out of the way, they also fit through the k-member, do not need to undo brake lines. Remove rack bolts from k-m...
