1988 XR4 with 2004R 54,637 miles original owner

Hello !

I would like $4,000 for the car. I have lots of extra parts, perhaps we can make a deal.

The car is located just outside Chicago, IL and is a reliable daily driver.

I have owned it since new and it has been garage kept since.

Below you will find a link to 30+ photos in which I have tried to capture all angles.

1. The AC does not work. It was converted to 134A and worked for some time after.
2. Speed control does not work.
3. The headliner is starting to sag. See photos
4. There is a driveshaft 1st order vibration of 47 HZ above 70 mph. I would like to go AL or carbon.
5. The scrapes on the RT side of the car came from a landscaping trailer.

The trans was from a Buick Grand National and was built with Alto red lining frictions.
I took it apart last year as a "weekend project" to replace seals (not needed) and change the oil.
It shifts very mild when lightly driven and aggressively when driven hard.

Rapido Borla exhaust
Rapido aftercooler
Rapido Koni suspension
Rapido rear disk brakes
Engine is stock with the exception of a roller cam.
Always used synthetic fluids with Red Line being used the most.

I have been driving the car for the last several months and truly enjoy driving it.

There was a guy who had an XR for sale about nine years ago with a Grand National transmission in it. He was a former Ford engineer IIRC and lived in Michigan.

Wow, sure would have liked to talk with him. I am not sure as to how many Xr4s have the automatic upgrade. It seems as if most like the T5 and it's many ratios. I have always been an automatic guy. I have worked for the General, Chrysler, and Nissan, but never the blue oval. Lots of time spent working with green fluid on the CVT.
