Spent a bunch of time trying to use the car gurus search which seems like it proved to be fruitless. Only found this one in North Carolina, which seems to not be you:

https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventory ... NE/DEFAULT

Instead of increasing the friction to making a sale, could you provide a link? (If it's still for sale.)

I will be going to inspect the car next week. It looks very clean in the pics. I would appreciate opinions/thoughts about it. It is an auto and the owner is asking for nearly 11k.

I'm definitely curious to find out how the inspection goes. I guess the link I found was the right one?

It's a secret, and mystery.

I found the car on Autotempest. It is less than a 2 hr. drive for me and I've been looking for a nice example. I am hoping that the owner is willing to negotiate on the price. 11k is a lot to spend for an auto XR...just my opinion. I will keep everyone updated.

The car is very clean and is one of 2 XR's he owns. Issues with the car are a sagging headliner, the usual wonky vehicle display screen and it needs front wheelwell liners as they are cracking. The seller is the owner of the Ford dealership in Asheboro, NC and is an enthusiast and racer. He has a building full of very cool cars. I was not allowed to take pictures at the location because of security concerns. The owner and I have an agreement on price and I put a deposit down on the car. Now I just have to pay for it! Got the XR home today! It was an uneventful trip back, but a few issues presented themselves:
1. Tachometer is non-functional (need input as to possible causes/fixes please.)
2. Temperature gauge immediately goes to the bottom of the red at start up.
3. Belt squeal when turning on the AC under load...made the trip without AC on. Glad it wasn't too hot today. :)
4. Driver side rear jacking point cover is missing. (Very minor issue I know.)
Now in the market for a repair manual and an electrical/vacuum troubleshooting manual.
Otherwise, the car is great, and I am now the proud owner of my 3rd XR! :headbang

The owner was asking nearly 11k, but I didn't pay his asking price. The squealing AC belt was an easy fix: removed the belt, thoroughly cleaned the pulleys and belt with some isopropyl alcohol and reinstalled the belt. No more belt squeal and the AC works perfectly. The tach started working on the drive home from work today...go figure. The temp gauge is still reading high, but the car is not overheating. I'm happy with my XR and feel that it is one of the better examples around. I look forward to more interactions and gaining knowledge from the members of this forum. Take care all! :)
