Rear Spring Upgrade - Mercedes W123

Post by DPDISXR4Ti » Sun Dec 29, 2019 9:17 am

Grabbed this off the Euro Scorpio FB page - just passing it along as I had never heard it mentioned before...

The wheels were angled (too much negative camber)at the factory. Springs from MB123 ('77 - '85) can be used. They should then be cut by 1.5 - 2 turns. The wheels will then be standing straight. The car will be a little firmer at the back.

It would also appear that most of the other MB platforms of that era (R107 W126 W123 W114 W115 W116 C126) used the same diameter springs and so could very well also be used, possibly along with the spring seats/shims.

Of course, this also means that these springs could be used in the XR, since it pretty much shares the suspension with the Scorpio. I currently run cut down Scorpio springs in the XRBrati.
