Dean: In my posts at least twice I clearly stated I want to know why AC22 is listed for several Ford models, with AC20 listed several Ford models, all for the same EEC-IV periods.

See the lists in screenshots from SMP's catalog:

I don't know Ed, but my Scorpio is running fine. What more must be said?

Interchangeable as far as I am concerned, due to the large overlapping on the applications.

Also note Ed, that the same valve works on a four cylinder as it does on an F-250 V8.
So rid you mind of anything regarding special calibrated port size or whatever.

If you can find the AC20 for less cost then go for it. As I recall that is what I did.

In December I bought the Ultra Power unit below ($30.00 shipped) for my '89. Installed a couple of weeks later. Seemed to function marginally better on cold engine acceleration from dead stop.

Interestingly, looking at the negative battery terminal I thought I should remove and clean the post and terminal connection--just because...(I'm anal about making sure all electrical connections are clean). I left the negative cable unconnected over night while a battery maintainer was connected to the battery

Subsequently over days' use cold acceleration from dead stop seemed marginally further improved, to a point where there's essentially no hesitation on first tip-in at all. Note that temps in my area only dropped this winter to max mid-20s F by morning.

So it seems on installing a new IAC disconnecting the battery to allow the EECIV to calibrate its table to the new IAC made a difference and should be standard practice.

Surprisingly the Ultra Power unit box was by far the absolute best package containg a car part I'd ever seen; hard to describe how/why, but it manifested that Ultra Power took pride in its product.

Agreed Ed, always reset eeciv when changing components by disconnecting battery for a few minutes. I'll add that repeat pulling codes afterwards is good practice as well.
