Re: XR4Ti Fallacy Thread
There's 2000-3000 "missing" cars that are hidden away someplace. Never titled, never registered, and they all run and drive.

There are probably 2000-3000 missing cars currently under tarps in back yards that are probably not titled (correctly) and definitely not registered. oops that is a truth...andyofcolumbusmerkur wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 12:11 pm There's 2000-3000 "missing" cars that are hidden away someplace. Re: XR4Ti Fallacy Thread
Hi all,
There previously had been a couple of the 5 speed versions of the XR4Ti in a field about twenty miles from where I have kept my car on a friends farm in MO. About ten years ago there was an upward spike in the price of junk cars for scrap value and they both disappeared at that time. I think this was a reason we see fewer of them these days although there are surely some of them still out there. Just a thought...
Cheers

That is so funny. The first Merkur dealership I went to, the salesman had that and a polyester sorts coat to match the polyester pants. He didn't want to sell me a Merkur, but tried to push me towards a Grand Marquis. He actually told me the Grand Marquis was a sportier car.

The shimmy while braking was the ABS. That is according to the service manager at the dealership I bought my first Merkur from.

One is enough, you will not need a second or third.

"The Merkur is a terrible Daily Driver."
I've found the opposite to be true. It's a great car that simply requires regular maintenance to be/stay completely reliable.

XRs are unreliable. XRs are hard to work on. XRs are very difficult to find parts for.

I think it was the "they all run and drive" part that is the meat of the myth.89Merkur wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 10:13 pmThere are probably 2000-3000 missing cars currently under tarps in back yards that are probably not titled (correctly) and definitely not registered. oops that is a truth...andyofcolumbusmerkur wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 12:11 pm There's 2000-3000 "missing" cars that are hidden away someplace.
