There's supposedly a cheap Radio shack capacitor/resistor? option available which you would need to unsolder and resolder maybe someone will chime in on that...also check out the merk encyclopedia I thingk they have a write up on ithttp://www.merkurencyclopedia.com/Merkur_misc/used%20XR.html .. BAT in FLA sells the whole module pg 41..if you wanna go that route

Mike, I think you should post the fix...and then it should go to the FAQ, as it's a common problem.

well... i did some more researching and i couldnt find the radio shack part number but i did find a part number that is supposdly common in the electronics industry and is suppose to be a direct replacement for our thermal limiting fuses....so if you guys need it here it is... im going to go pick it up from a electronics distributor here in my town..

[Admin: The actual PN for the thermal fuse, purchased from Radio Shack is:]

Radio Shack #270-1322

Do not try to solder it in as you will blow the fuse. Remember that it is a THERMAL fuse. You will need to crimp it into place.

Phils85ti,

This is a pretty common heater resistor. You should be able to but direct from Ford. Or better yet go to a junk yard and scrounge around and you will probably be able to pick up at least two or three!
