scorpioaddict is AOK...

Post by brokencase »

Recently bought a Scorpio leak catcher and heated seat switches from scorpioaddict as posted in the for sale section.

Prices were very reasonable, transaction was great, and he shipped the items well packed and quickly.

Thanks.

My Scorpio leak catcher was a big drip pan. (rim shot)

I have also dealt with this seller, and it was an experience very much like your own. Helpful, too. :cheers

There is actually sort of a "leak catcher" for Scorpios.

Saul showed it me. Scorpios had a plastic "under engine" cover.

He said that most dealers pulled them off on the first oil change and never put them back on.
I suspect this also would catch occasional oil drips from the engine.

Neither of the two second hand Scorpios I have owned came with one.

^ Standard on '89s; fits '88s as well.

Had one on my '89. Was always careful to clean and replace it. Of course, any oil leak, even a tiny one, will eventually make its way around whichever edge is lowest. In my case, it was the tailshaft seal. When I replaced the seal and guibo, the shield contacted the guibo first time I drove it. Freaky. It was kind of flexible. A simple straightening out resolved that issue.

^^ You're referring to the aluminum heat deflector (from the two cats.

The belly pan runs from the front lower edge of the radiator to about the rear edge of the oil pan.

Yes, if the heat shield is not reinstalled giving enough guibo clearance, the two will rub. Did it for me once even though I knew what to look for and thought I had adjusted it enough.

YMMV ;)

Yeah, that's right-- don't think it had the forward pan-- can't recall. I had it briefly, then my son owned it for a while, then he sold it to move to Portland. Too bad, and too bad the XR's don't have 'em; I think it would be an improvement both for keeping out crud and cooling airflow through the engine compartment. In the garage somewhere, I have a worn-out old cardboard template for one I was going to make out of sheet metal, but I never could get a Round To It I needed to make it happen.
