Merkur Saves the Day Again!

Post by R Code »

Warning: not original content. Pirated from elsewhere & adapted to fit our situation. :)

Your classic Merkur may be the best thing for you right now as we work through social distancing.

1) The Merkur is immune to the virus.
2) If you are in the garage working on your Merkur, you can bet there won't be a crowd of people around. If there is, you can empty the garage quickly by draining the differential fluid: one whiff and the people will flee.
3) Most parts needed can be ordered online and delivered to your door.
4) If you are working on your car, you are not watching TV, thereby avoiding a source of stress & anxiety.
5) No trouble remembering to wash your hands and not touch your face. If you are working on your Merkur, your hands will be so filthy you won't have to be reminded.
6) Stay hydrated! Beer is mostly water with a bit of alcohol (for disinfectant purposes). Forget toilet paper, stock up on beer.
7) While your 401K drops like a stone, put money instead into your 2.3L or 2.9L. It's just good economic sense.

I risked it, and went to Walmart this week for a jug of syn 10-30 and FL1A filter. Put the cash into the self checkout machine, left the pennies in the tray, used some hand sanitizer after touching the screen, and left. Avoiding everyone as I zig-zagged in and out of the store.

Good advice. My wife is drinking mass quantities of Corona w Lime. No flue nor 19 symptoms = it must be working, although she's not getting much work done. :cheers

Well...
Governor J.B. has put Illinois on lockdown until April 7.

My car is in storage at the county fairgrounds and due to get out on March 28.
Awaiting word on what's up. If I were betting, I'd bet it now comes out on April 11, which would be fine.

Could be worse. Guy I work with is coming back from Mexico tomorrow.
Company just put out word that anyone that gets on an airplane is to talk to HR before coming to work.
There's a pretty good chance that he's not back to work on Monday.

Before he left I told him Trump wasn't gonna let him back in the country.

I'm going on vacation in August... to the big lake near Green Bay. Getting there in the wife's Cadillac. I expect no problems.

I've been working at home for the past week. It's actually working out well.

We're doing split shifts, mine is 4am to 12pm.
I like getting off work at noon.
