Under-hood space for engine swap - XR Vs. Scorpio

Under-hood space for engine swap - XR Vs. Scorpio

I've sometimes wondered which engine bay is more spacious, from a vertical standpoint. So today I tried to figure out. Using the top of the steering rack as the measurement bottom, I come up with:

Scorpio 23.25"
XR4Ti 23.75"

These were tape-measure jobs, so not entirely exact, but I tried to be accurate and compare in an apples-to-apples way. In summary, you get a little more space with an XR4Ti. Probably with a Sierra hood (vs. XR4Ti), the two are nearly identical.
