Be prepared - there's a lot of sexual innuendo in this story.
While changing the pads, one of the pistons began leaking fluid as I screwed it in. The "Manual" indicates the piston can be removed by a counterclockwise screwing. And someone suggested a ScotchBrite pad is good to clean the bore.

Any suggestions for saving this caliper are appreciated.
In the event that this doesn't cure the leak, I'm hoping to swap the caliper from a donor car. On the donor car, I have a reasonable bit of slack in the emergency cable, but still can't get the hoop off the hook. I removed the spring to release the pressure, but no success. What's the trick, or is it fiddling and patience until it unhooks?
I feel like it's my first time undoing a 4 hook bra.

Next is the getting the emergency cable through the caliper housing. Again - what's the trick? I found the circle clip, but will the hook really fit through the hole? Or must the inner emergency cable be R&R'ed through its outer cable and threaded through the caliper first when reinstalling?
Having to do this unexpectedly in the winter is getting to me. I'm having a little difficulty concentrating. Maybe I should just put the tools always and get under the covers with the wife...
